KAMPALA - In 2022, Lawrence Kakooza, a UK-based Ugandan man had an extravagant wedding, estimated at over sh1b, that captured headlines nationwide.
At age 45, Kakooza married Justine Nabwami in a grand ceremony marked by opulence and style.
Sadly, tragedy struck during their honeymoon at Murchison Falls, in which Kakooza reportedly passed away when he had gone for a swim. Despite its sombre ending, this narrative features an intriguing anecdote.
Bake for Me, known for their exquisite creations, provided the stunning wedding cake that served as the centrepiece of the celebration.
Ampumuza Sandra, the marketing manager at Bake for Me, shared that this particular cake had garnered attention at the 2022 Bride and Groom Expo, cementing its reputation as a showstopper.
Over the past 15 years, the Bride and Groom Expo has undeniably left a significant impact on numerous service providers in the wedding and events industry.
According to Ampumuza, participation in the Expo has been instrumental to their business growth.
“Through the Expo, we have been able to forge valuable networks and expand our business opportunities far beyond our current clientele. Having participated three times already, we have gained substantial exposure, built key relationships, and attracted new clients. This time, we anticipate even greater networking opportunities and heightened publicity,” Ampumuza explained.
With five strategic outlets located in Nalaya, Bunga, Kajjansi, Kololo, and Nankulabye, Bake for Me has bridged the geographical gap to serve clients across Uganda effectively.

Ending today, the expo, themed Together Pakalast ran with partnerships from Penny Bold Bridal, Fragolino, Crown Beverages (Pepsi), The Looks Bespoke, Uganda Breweries Ltd., and Health Care Limited. Partners like Uganda Airlines, Café Javas, Signature Jewellery, the Kenya Tourism Board, Marasa Africa, and the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
