Couples win big at Bride and Groom Expo 2024

Wanyama thanked Ugandans for supporting the biggest wedding expo in Uganda and committed to ensuring that for the next 15 years, it will be bigger and better. Wanyama thanked the sponsors and partners for their great support.

Vision Group CEO, Don Wanyama has said 15 years of Bride & Groom has been a long time and significant for the Ugandan bridal and wedding industry.

“Many people try to run such an event, but never make the it this far.”

Wanyama thanked Ugandans for supporting the biggest wedding expo in Uganda and committed to ensuring that for the next 15 years, it will be bigger and better. Wanyama thanked the sponsors and partners for their great support.

“The three years have been a great year. During this significant crystal jubilee year of the Bride & Groom expo, we choose to celebrate couples who have spent at least 10 years in marriage. Thank you for supporting many of our services and products. That is why we remain Uganda’s biggest media company,” he said. Wanyama also said Vision Group will continue to give Ugandans great event experiences.

To celebrate the expo’s 15 years, Denis Cake offered a traditional fruity newspaper cake that was cut with Vision Group sponsors and partners. The proprietor said they have participated in the expo for the last three years and have been able to grow their business, hence the decision to give back and celebrate with Vision Group and expo attendees.

  • Carol Namutebi from Buwama won a watch from Signature jewelry.
  • Derrick Mugisha won 40 bottles of Fragolino wine. He is getting married in October.

  • Ernest Nabasa of Kampala won a wedding gown from Penny Bold. He was a customer who was to pay for a gown tomorrow (Monday).
  • Stephen Otima won two suits from The Looks Bespoke; one for the groom and the other for the best man.

  • Gloria Lunyoro from Kireka won salon care packages from Sparkles Salon. She is set to wed on January 4 next year. She got one voucher for the bride and her entire entourage, and one voucher for the husband and his entire entourage. 
  • Catherine Nyakato Nayebare from Ntinda was the other winner, she will give the vouchers to her sister and her husband, who are set to wed soon.


Grand winners

  • The grand winner - Erisa Walukaga from Masaka - will spend four nights in Nairobi and Masai Mara, courtesy of the Kenya Tourism Board and Uganda Airlines.

  • Maria Arinaitwe from Mulago won two-night stay at Chobe Safari Lodge, courtesy of Marasa Africa. She picked up the prize with her mother.
  • The other winner of a two-night stay at Chobe Safari Lodge courtesy of Marasa Africa was Janat Nakawuka from Kyanja. Her introduction is set for July 2, and her wedding is scheduled for December.
  • Cherry on top 2 couples married for at least 10 years were awarded. One couple will go to Chobe Safari Lodge courtesy of Marasa Africa and one to Nairobi and Masai Mara courtesy of Kenya Tourism Board and Uganda Airlines.

According to Lorraine Tukahiirwa, the marketing manager at Vision Group, the winners got a full board trip, fully catered for. Richard and Annet Mugisha of Kampala won a two-night stay at Chobe Safari Lodge. The couple who had been married for 12 years spent the first years without children. Hospital results indicated that the condition was irreversible.

“Today we are happy parents of two children,” Mugisha said. The two got married on May 19, 2012. They also got two special hampers from North Care Limited.

The grand winners of a four-night stay in Nairobi and Masai Mara were Joseph and Brenda Rukombekamu from Kakumiro district. The couple has been married for 20 years.

“Put God in marriage, and everything is possible. Communication is key. If a partner does good, acknowledge and appreciate it; if they do bad, speak about it,” Rukombekamu said.

The couple also got two special hampers from Northcare Limited, who pledged to be at the expo every year.
