BRIDE & GROOM EXPO
KAMPALA - At the Bride & Groom Expo 2024 which is ongoing at the UMA Show Grounds Lugogo, exhibitors have showcased different cake designs for every function.
Priscilla Mugerwa, the CEO at Cilla’s Oven Limited in Nateete says that before choosing a cake, one should know whether the venue is indoor or outdoor, consider the budget and choose the flavours to use accordingly.

Edwina Nankanja, an exhibitor with Scarlet Cakes says that since the expo constitutes a variety of cakes and themes for expo goers to look at, they should consider choosing the best tastes. (All Photos by Mpalanyi Ssentongo)

“If it is outdoors, during the hot season and there is no tent, you cannot choose cream or butter icing because the cake will melt before it is cut which will ruin your function,’’ she elaborates.
Mugerwa notes that a cake is a symbol of love, family and togetherness which summarises a wedding since two separate families come together in love.
“After getting the matrimonial blessing from the places of worship, a cake is later served portraying acceptance and sealing unity,’’ she added.

Accordingly, the inside of the cake should be a combination of flavours so that all the invited guests can pick what connects with them.
She also adds that the size and theme (Bridgeton, classical, floral or rustic) of the cake should be considered based on the number of guests invited. The cake colours should also blend with your invitation cards, gown, groom’s costumes and everything should be coordinated for a memorable wedding,’’ she further notes.
