A dominant first-half display by SC Villa saw them beat NEC FC 3-0 at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku on Friday to register their first win of this Premier League campaign.

Villa took care of business as early as the 10th minute through Umar Lutalo ho opened the scoring with a brilliant finish.

Towards the end of the first half, NEC's John Paul Acire deflected Ivan Bogere's cross into his net for Villa's second goal.

Inside the three added minutes before going into the halftime break, Arnold Odongo rose highest to head home Bogere's free-kick to make it 3-0 to Villa.

Villa was completely a different side from the one that suffered a 2-1 defeat to Kitara on this very ground on match day one.

Chances were created and dominated possession for larger parts of this half with NEC chasing shadows.

On the other hand,  it was a disappointing performance from NEC who came into Friday's encounter top of the summit after two wins against Mbarara City and Busoga United.

Against Busoga, they scored five goals without the Jinja side responding.

Therefore, their fans and the neutrals expected the same venom from them against Villa who in their last match struggled to earn a point from Maroons away in Luzira in the 1-1 stalemate.

There was some improvement from NEC in the second half but still, the chances they created did not yield anything to stop Villa from taking all the three points.

One of Villa's goal scorers Odongo thanked his teammates and coaches for the team effort to get their first win of the campaign.

"It was a team effort to win this game after a difficult start. I am very grateful for the chance to play for this club and more especially to my coaches for trusting me." Odongo said after the game.

This was Odongo's second goal having scored for Villa to rescue a point from Maroons.

He was voted man of the man of the match which is a symbol of his continued solid start to life in the top flight having joined the Jogoos from Makerere University Business School in the University Football League last season.

Friday's win relieved pressure off the shoulders of Villa's Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic and his assistant Morley Byekwaso after their poor start.

NEC assistant head coach Dudu Bosco did not hold his word and blamed his players for lacking concentration, especially in the first half which led to Villa's goals.

"To be honest, we have not been good today, many mistakes were made and once you do them away from home, you get punished," Dudu admitted.

Elsewhere, Bunyoro's pride Kitara continued its wonderful start to the league, coming from a goal down to beat Gaddafi 2-1 in Jinja.

Thomas Ochungo gave Gaddafi the lead in the first half but Denis Omedi and George Ssenkaaba scored a goal each in the second half to maintain their side's one hundred percent start to the league.

That victory sent Kitara top of the standings with nine points from three games and it was the perfect start their head coach Brian Ssenyondo dreamed of.

Wakiso Giants also got off the mark with a 2-0 victory over UPDF away in Bombo military barracks thanks to two beautiful strikes from Mulamba Blanchar and Kenneth Kimera.

The action continues on Sunday with struggling Arua Hill hosting BUL FC at Paridi grounds in Adjumani district.
