Uganda Police FC has received a major financial boost after Yaobai Cement Karamoja signed a one-year sponsorship partnership with the club worth Shs450 million.
The deal is expected to ease some of the financial challenges that have affected Police FC’s ability to develop young players and compete strongly in the Uganda Premier League.
The partnership was signed at Uganda Police Headquarters in Naguru, with club and company officials witnessing the agreement.

Yaobai Cement Deputy Managing Director Xing Chao, Managing Director Mr. Ma Chao, Local Partner and Director Byona Ambrose, and Police FC chairman SCP Timothy Halango witnessed the signing.
Timothy Halango described the deal as a major achievement for the club, which has faced limited resources over the years.
“It is a very big achievement for the club, especially knowing that resource constraints have been keeping this club back from realising its objectives of identifying and developing talent and playing competitively in the league,” Halango said.

He said the partnership would help the club address some of those challenges while supporting young players and the wider sporting community.
“Yaobai Cement coming on board helps us reduce that challenge, and it should benefit the youth, the sporting fraternity, and the country, so it is a landmark achievement,” he said.
The Shs450 million cheque represents Yaobai Cement’s commitment for the first year of the partnership.
The two parties said the partnership is expected to grow, with future funding linked to Police FC’s performance and further agreements between the club and the company.

Police FC, coached by Matia Lule, will hope the new financial support helps the club improve its competitiveness while giving more attention to talent development.
The club has a 61-year history and is one of Uganda’s oldest football institutions.
Police FC won the Uganda Premier League title in 2005 under coach Sam Timbe before winning the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2006.
The new sponsorship gives the club an opportunity to build on its history and compete for more honours.
Yaobai Cement Marketing and Performance Manager Marvin N. Biyinzika said community development is an important part of the partnership.
“We really like the idea of community development because it allows us to support young people, promote sport, create opportunities, and build stronger communities through our partnership with Police FC across the country,” Biyinzika said.
The company also said Police FC players, technical staff, and supporters will have direct and affordable access to its products as the partnership develops.
