Uganda's COVID-19 infections, deaths continue to fall

Ministry of health recorded 67 new cases on Saturday (February 5), down from 87 registered the previous day. 

The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country is now 3,552 and cumulative recoveries are 99,379, up from 99, 357 on February 4.

KAMPALA - The latest daily figures have shown that the number of people testing positive for coronavirus and those dying has continued to fall in Uganda.

Ministry of health recorded 67 new cases on Saturday (February 5), down from 87 registered the previous day. 

The ministry said results of 4, 103 COVID-19 tests done on February 3 with 1.6% positivity rate confirmed the 67 new cases, bringing the total number of infections to 162,203.

This time round, all the new cases were logged in Kampala (51) and Wakiso (16).

The number of people dying of coronavirus by date reported has fallen from six on February 4 to three.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country is now 3,552 and cumulative recoveries are 99,379, up from 99, 357 on February 4.

However, 177 COVID-19 patients are still admitted to various health facilities in the country. 

The health ministry said the total number of coronavirus doses administered in the country was still 12,696,741.

Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, the health minister, announced on January 7, 2022 that Uganda had entered a third wave of coronavirus.

She appealed to Ugandans to get vaccinated against coronavirus and adhere to the standard operating procedures to contain the deadly virus.
