KAMPALA - Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president, Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu, has said his newly-formed party will be officially launched on May 22 in Kampala.

On Tuesday, Muntu addressed journalists at the headquarters of his new party, Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) in Bukoto, Kampala.

He also apologised to Ugandans for delaying to launch the party, saying that the lengthy registration process by the Electoral Commission bogged down his earlier plans to launch the party before Christmas last year.

"We had promised to launch the alliance before Christmas. Unfortunately, the process of registration delayed. We would like to apologise," he said.

"Fortunately, we got the certificate and we shall be launching the party on May 22, 2019, at Kampala Serena Hotel," added the former FDC leader.

On April 25, the EC issued a registration certificate to Muntu's new political party, ANT, after almost over six months since he unveiled his new political trajectory under The New Formation in September last year when he left FDC.

Muntu quit FDC, citing fundamental contradictory strategic disagreements.
