Kadaga attends Lwala Girls commemoration prayers

PRAYERS

KABERAMAIDO - The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, was Friday the chief guest at the commemoration prayers for the students of Lwala Girls SS in Kaberamaido district abducted by Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels in 2003.

As many as 180 schoolgirls who were abducted by the Joseph Kony-led group and many have never returned.

Those taken captive were from Teso and Lango subregion.

Prayers to commemorate the Lwala Girls are held annually at the school premises.

This year, Fr. Denis Asima led the prayers that attracted hundreds of people, including Speaker Kadaga and leaders in Teso.

LRA leader Joseph Kony was driven out of Uganda and his whereabouts are not known. Fr. Asima prayed for him to repent and abandon the rebellion.
