UPC flag flies higher in Kwania parliamentary election

KWANIA - Incumbent Kwania District Woman Member of Parliament Kenny Auma has retained her seat to keep the Uganda People’s Congress Party flag flying high by winning with 37,685 votes.

Auma defeated two other contenders who carried the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party flag to return.

NRM candidate Susan Apiyo Atekilwak came second in the race with 21,847 votes, while FDC candidate, Etit Kaee Okoa trailed with 783 votes.

In Kwania North County, NRM candidate James Ongu humiliated incumbent MP Bob Okae, polling 16,663 votes as Okae assembled 14,626 votes for his pockets.

Other two candidates, Independent Evelyn Elem Awor, got 1,221 votes to share the spoils with the National Unity Platform’s Allan Charles Odongo with 173 votes.

In Kwania County, NRM’s Tony Eron won the race with 11,429 votes, beating the incumbent, Tony Ayoo (Independent) who got 6,128 votes.

Harriet Havey Ajalo (UPC) garnered 9,991 votes, while Erick Okek (Independent) trailed with 230 votes.
