'Please, Mr President, let's have all our roads tarmacked'

Back on the campaign trail in Nebbi as he seeks re-election, Museveni and his wife, Janet, rallied the people to vote for peace by electing the NRM at all levels "to enable us to continue with our path to achieving a high-income middle status".

The residents of Zombo district in Uganda's West Nile sub-region are using the ongoing presidential campaigns to deliver their wish list. For one, they want all roads in their district, including community access roads, tarmacked.

On Saturday, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flagbearer, was scheduled to conduct his second campaign rally of the day in Zombo after Nebbi.

Zombo would be Museveni's third district in West Nile sub-region to campaign in, having started off in Pakwach district earlier this week, before state duties necessitated him to temporarily ease off the campaign trail.

Back on the campaign trail in Nebbi as he seeks re-election, Museveni and his wife, Janet, rallied the people to vote for peace by electing the NRM at all levels "to enable us to continue with our path to achieving a high-income middle status".

In Zombo, Museveni's rally was organised at Zombo Upper Primary School in Zombo town council, where many eager supporters awaited his arrival, as some shared their views.

Alex Onenrwoth, a resident of Amor village, said the unpaved roads are limiting development in the area. "By now, Zombo would have been developed, but what we lack are the roads that enable development."

He argued that the other issues of education and health will be solved after the roads have been tarmacked.

Justino Uzelle, a former catechist in Zeu sub-county, shared his sentiments.

"Most of our roads are bad; therefore, there is need to have them tarmacked to prevent accidents. We have had many accidents in this district, mainly on all our roads. Please, Mr President, let's have all our roads tarmacked."

Nancy Amito, a resident of Warr sub-county, said there is need to revamp the health centres so they can provide as many services as possible.

"Sometimes when you go to the health centres, you find no medicine. So I am asking the President to ensure we have drugs in the health facilities."
