Amuriat: Eastern, northern block vote will propel Nandala to presidency

Relatedly, Nandala, the 2026 FDC presidential candidate, said that he expects a block vote from those two regions because the government neglected them.

In a bid to secure the 51% vote required to be declared the elected President of the Republic of Uganda, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, has said that a block vote from northern and eastern parts of the country will push them to power.

"In Teso, we are competing with Bugisu to see who wins many Members of Parliament (MPs) in the 12th Parliament. With the majority members, we shall be in position as opposition to cause an impeachment," Amuriat said on Saturday while campaigning for FDC's Nathan Nandala Mafabi during campaigns at Jewa town council in Mbale district, he added.

Relatedly, Nandala, the 2026 FDC presidential candidate, said that he expects a block vote from those two regions because the government neglected them.

The Budadiri West MP in Sironko district assured voters that he has the experience and skills to tackle corruption and promote economic growth.

"Within five years of my leadership, Uganda will be a good country for all its citizens," he said.

Addressing his supporters, Mafabi criticised government over “lack of decent education for our children, healthcare services, unemployment, poor roads, and poverty".

Promising to prioritise these sectors, Mafabi accused the government of neglect while imposing heavy taxes on citizens when providing poor social services.

He promised coffee farmers a better price of sh60,000 per kilogram, up from the current sh1700

Vote for Change

The people of Mbale district vowed to vote for Mafabi, as evident from the large turnout at his campaign.
