Ugandan fans off to Kenya for WRC Safari Rally

This year, hundreds of fans were on Tuesday flagged off by the Kenya High Commissioner in Uganda, Major General Rtd George Aggrey Owino at the High Commission officers in Kololo urging them to promote tourism.

Since the return of the WRC Safari Rally, mammoth crowds of Ugandan fans have flocked to Kenya to support their local drivers and also catch a glimpse of the foreign crews they have regularly watched on television. 

This year, hundreds of fans were on Tuesday flagged off by the Kenya High Commissioner in Uganda, Major General Rtd George Aggrey Owino at the High Commission officers in Kololo urging them to promote tourism.

"As the Kenyan community in Uganda, we are committed to promoting tourism around the East African region and especially Kenya. So, you are our ambassadors in the Safari rally go and promote our East African community," Owino said before flagging off the fans under their umbrella  Rally Hunters. 

Tanzanian Born Yasin Nasser navigated by Ali Katumba in a Ford Fiesta R5 rally 2 will fly both the Tanzania and Uganda flag high in the global event.

The four-day event which starts on Wednesday with a Shake Down in Naivasha, will cover a total distance of  1267km of which 367.76 km are competitive distance.
