Twenty-eight (28) crews including Yasin Nasser from Uganda target finishing the stages today as the WRC Safari Rally gets underway with Super Special Stage in Kasarani.

The crews including nine who are competing in the WRC will tackle the Super Special Stage in Kasarani and on Friday Saturday and Sunday tackle the competitive stages.

“Our target is to finish the rally so, we are going to take precautions but also push for better results,” Katumba.

“The car feels good and we are ready to go,” Katumba added.

Nasser driving under the Tanzanian flag and navigated by Ugandan navigator Ali Katumba in a Ford Fiesta R5 rally2 is among the few African drivers competing in the four-day rally that also has the Kenya National Rally Championship category which he will be scoring in.

Nasser will start in the 25th position according to the start list issued by the Clerk of the Course Gurvir Bhaba and is ready to feel the WRC experience.

On Wednesday, he started well in the shakedown impressing hundreds of Ugandan fans who traveled to Kenya for the event courtesy of the Kenya Tourism Board.

The fans were on March 26, flagged off by the Kenya High Commissioner in Uganda, Major General Rtd George Aggrey Owino at the High Commission officers in Kololo urging them to promote tourism.

Tanzanian-born Yasin Nasser navigated by Ali Katumba in a Ford Fiesta R5 rally 2 will fly both the Tanzanian and Ugandan flag in the global event.

The four-day event that started on Wednesday, March 27, with the Shakedown in Naivasha and will cover a total distance of 1267km of which 367.76 km is competitive.
