Uganda is seeking a bigger share of the French tourism market as it showcases the Pearl of Africa at the International and French Travel Market (IFTM) Top Resa in Paris.

The three-day business-to-business exhibition, running from September 15 to 17 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, brings together tourism professionals, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, hotels and destinations from around the world.

IFTM says the event attracts more than 32,000 tourism professionals, 1,650 brands and 177 destinations.

Uganda’s delegation, led by Ambassador Doreen Ruth Amule, includes officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority and private-sector operators.

The push comes as Uganda’s international tourism receipts rose 21.3% to Sh5.83 trillion in 2025, while visitor arrivals increased 19.7% to 1.64 million.

French visitors more than doubled to 7,439 during the year.

Amule says Uganda is targeting at least 13,000 French visitors, with a combined target of 18,000 from France, Spain and Portugal.

“We want a bigger share of the global cake,” she says.
