Ugandan tourism and hospitality dignitaries are among those from across Africa and the Indian Ocean who have met in Tanzania for the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025. The awards honour organisations pushing the boundaries of excellence and innovation across the region.
Among the organisations honoured during the June 29, 2025, Dar es Salaam event are five Ugandan firms.
The 32nd World Travel Awards hosted at Johari Rotana, Dar es Salaam, saw Tanzanian and Kenyan companies outmuscle Ugandan ones and the rest of the region to emerge top.
The Maldives was voted ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination’ and ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Green Destination’. The prestigious Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club claimed ‘Africa’s Leading Hotel’, while Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort was hailed ‘Africa’s Leading Resort’. Africa's Leading Adventure Tour Operator 2025 award went to Zara Tanzania Adventures. Kenyan firm Diamonds Malindi won the Africa's Leading All-Inclusive Resort 2025 award, while Miracle Experience - Balloon Safaris Tanzania was named Africa's Leading Balloon Ride Operator 2025.
According to the list, a copy of which New Vision Online has seen, Primate Expeditions, Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala Serena Hotel and Home to Africa Tour & Travel company, are among the top Ugandan companies honoured and awarded in their respective business segments.
