Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) will join the rest of the schools' sports associations on the globe to compete in the International Schools Sports Federation (ISF) cross country championship due in the Slovakian city of Strbske starting this Friday, April 22 to 27.

USSSA has assembled a strong team of youthful runners composed of 7 boys and 5 girls who have been undergoing intensive training at Old Kampala for the last one week.

According to Patrick Okanya, who is the USSSA president and also the leader of the delegation flying to Slovakia today, the team has well been prepared and good performance is expected like it was in Serbia during the ISF U-15 games last year.

Of the 12 athletes, only Loice Chekwmoi has tested the international youth championship having been on the triumphant Uganda team to Belgrade last year where she won gold in 1500m before leading Uganda to a silver in the medley relay before winning silver in this year’s national cross country championship in Tororo.

The rest are starters on the international scene, but also showed great composure during the Tororo event as they run in the junior category where they were identified.

Dominic Krop Naido will captain the team assisted by Chekwomoi.
