Amus College is promoting student talent with another breakthrough as 2024 USSSA Golden Boot winner Musabbah Hakim signed with Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States of America.
The deal was made possible through the partnership between Festoweb SMC Uganda, Real Talent Football Contracts (UK/Spain), and International Sports Scholars (USA).
“Thanks to our winning partnership with Festoweb SMC Uganda, Real Talent Football (UK/Spain), and International Sports Scholars (USA), we are opening doors to pro football and scholarships for boys and girls on merit,” Amus said in a statement.
This move makes Musabbah Hakim the third Amus College player to join a club in the USA, following the earlier transfers of Allan Oyirwoth and Brain Toto Majub.
In January this year, Allan Oyirwoth, a midfielder, completed a deal with New England Revolution Football Club in Major League Soccer (MLS). His contract runs through the 2028 season, with a one-year club option for 2029.
Oyirwoth rose to prominence after finishing top scorer and MVP at the 2023 USSSA National Football Championship, a 64-school tournament.
He also inspired Amus to the 2022 East African Football Championship and the 2022 Ateker Cup.
On the international stage, he topped the scoring charts at the 2023 International Schools Football (ISF) Championship in Morocco and the FEASSSA Games a month later.
He also represented Uganda at the 2023 African Games, where he scored against Senegal and featured in a 2-1 win over Nigeria.
Oyirwoth made his Uganda Cranes debut in a World Cup qualifier against Somalia on 21st November 2023, registering an assist. He later played in a friendly against Kuwait in January 2024.
He even shared the pitch with world stars Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Sergio Busquets in an MLS game against Inter Miami.
In February 2025, ex-Amus captain Brain Toto Majub also joined professional football in the USA. The left-footed defender captained the Uganda U-20 national team (Hippos) at the CECAFA U-20 Championship in Dar-es-Salaam.
He was also in the Amus squads that represented Uganda at the 2023 ISF World Championships in Morocco and the 2024 edition in China.
