Uganda’s Netherlands based heavyweight, Willy Kyakonye has promised to retire Italian Giovanni Auriemma as the two gears up for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) International title.
Kyakonye alias ‘The Ring Tiger’ takes on Giovanni in an explosive heavyweight show slated for March 30th at the grand Sports Club Wilnis Arena in Utrecht City, Netherlands.
The gigantic Uganda heavyweight hard puncher is currently in intense training at Kyoku boxing gym in Amsterdam with confidence to finally land his first major title.
“Mark my words well, I’m going to take Giovannis’ soul and his spirit out. This fight is like my everything. It is the first time I’m fighting for a major title and I can’t let myself lose it”. Kyakonye vows.
Before adding;
“All I can promise Giovanni will taste my wrath like others. I will forcefully make him kiss the canvas come that day. The good thing The ring Tiger is training hard and ready to feed on my prey”.
Dubbed the Evolution of boxing, Kyakonye will vie to join USA Based Sulaiman Segawa as the only current Ugandan boxers in the diaspora to hold prestigious International titles.
Last year Segawa defended his WBC-USA Featherweight title and currently tops the world’s pound for pound rankings of Ugandan boxers.
But Kyakonye believes he is destined to join Segawa’s league ahead of his blockbuster with Giovannis.
“By winning this fight, my global ranking will automatically rise. I will enter the same league as Segawa. With this in my mind, this Italian guy must expect to see no mercy from me come that day”
Kyakonye, a former national boxing team ‘The bombers’ boxer, a 2015 Africa boxing championship bronze medalist and the first Ugandan to compete in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) comes into this fight while still undefeated since making his pro debut in 2017.
His current ring record stands at 10-0-0 where he has won all his pro fights with six knockouts.
Besides that, he holds the Dutch national heavyweight title on top of being among the top contenders for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) European heavyweight title.
His opponent Giovanni stands on six fights with a dismal return of wins winning two, before going on to lose three while he has drawn only once.
