The General Secretary of Uganda Bodybuilding and Fitness Association Joseph Nkoyoyo believes the inclusion of four other championships on the calendar will increase competition and give the bodybuilders a platform to showcase their talent.
Previously, the association calendar had only two competitions, the Mr. Uganda and Mr. Kampala championships, and now they have introduced interclub’s bodybuilding championships, intercities, inter-regional bodybuilding championships, and champions of champions bodybuilding.
However, the Mr. Kampala Championship has been scrapped from the calendar, making the competitions annually five.
Nkoyoyo revealed this at the launch of the Mr. Uganda bodybuilding championship that is slated to take place on November 20.
The association is planning to increase the number of women in the sport based on the fact that those who come out to be outstanding are taken to other sporting disciplines.
“We are looking at increasing the number of women who take part in the sport(women’s physique) since most of them who come out are diverted to other sports disciplines,” Nkoyoyo revealed.
“We are looking at increasing the level of competition in the association and have the athletes motivated and feel part of the game more.”
