Bodybuilder Safalu Tamale is set to represent Uganda in the Mr 001 bodybuilding championships slated for December 12 in Mombasa, Kenya.

“I want to represent my country in the championship to prove to all Ugandans that disability is not inability but a source of motivation," Safalu said.

Safalu is currently training at ISK powerlifting gym in Ndeeba.

“I am working so hard to carry 150kg to dethrone the current powerlifter Mohammed Nigo who is currently lifting 140kg,” Safalu noted.

Although Safalu is currently doing natural bodybuilding, he is also required to use supplements to help him get his body evenly shaped.

“I call on the public to help me raise some funds to provide me with some essentials like supplements and rent so that I can fully focus on training and bring home something prestigious,” Safalu noted.

Uganda Bodybuilding and Fitness Association was requested to send in representatives to take part in the championship and the association gave a green light to all the athletes willing to take part to prepare themselves.

“Regardless of the association being in a very bad financial status, we could not deny the athletes a chance to go and represent the nation. We shall help them process the travelling documents and also see that they are all vaccinated as we also source for the minimal funds to help them while in Kenya,” said Twahah Ddungu, the president of Uganda Bodybuilding Association.

Ddungu continued that the athletes will be required to source personal funds for themselves to cater for accommodation, feeding, and transportation while in Mombasa.
