Uganda Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (UBBFA) have been silent since the Mr. Uganda bodybuilding championships last November.

However, (UBBFA) president Twaha Ddungu claims the cause of the silence is due to the need to relocate the tournaments that were previously only located in the central region.

“We have resorted to having regional bodybuilding championships to substitute Mr. Kampala tourney to strengthen the clubs in the various regions,” Ddungu noted.

“Athletes are going to compete in regions namely Northern, central, eastern and western in their club set-ups “We also want to empower the other regional-based clubs to be with the capacity of hosting and managing the bodybuilding affairs like tournaments and capacity-building courses for the potential candidates.”

Ddungu also said the regional tournaments are aimed at reducing the numbers of athletes who turn up for Mr. Kampala and Mr. Uganda tournaments.

The decision means the top five performers in each region will be getting a slot for the Mr. Uganda bodybuilding championships.”

Ddungu added that the central region bodybuilding championships are slated for October 1, and will be the benchmark for other regions in November.
