s the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games II and Athletics Championship kicks off on July 10, at Tororo College School, Teso Zone is confident of making a strong impression and bringing home multiple awards.
Led by athletics coach Lumbert Enatu, the Teso team of boys and girls is determined to rewrite history with a potential podium sweep. Enatu is optimistic that his squad is ready to challenge the dominance of traditionally strong zones like West Nile and Kenya.
“Our dream is to win the title that Kenya has stubbornly taken for years,” Enatu told Vision Sports. “We know the expectations are high back home, but I believe this team is ready. I’m grateful that our athletes will be competing alongside some of the best national and international talents.”
Assistant coach Micheal Ogwang echoed the confidence, stating that the athletes are well-prepared and ready to make their mark.
“The team is set. The boys and girls have received solid training and understand what is expected of them in competition,” said Ogwang.
The Teso squad was selected from the zonal qualifiers held at Kaberamaido Secondary School from June 26 to 30, 2025. They are currently finalizing preparations in a one-week residential training camp at Bishop Maraka College School in Kumi Municipality.
USSSA Teso Zone Chairperson John Robert Osuu expressed confidence in the selected athletes, noting that they have the potential to make the region proud.
