The proposal by Teso College Aloet (TCA) to host the 2024 Federation of East Africa Senior Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games has caught the attention of the Teso community.

Teso College Aloet, the school located in Soroti City, in Eastern Uganda is among the schools that have handed in their bids to host the 2024 Federation of East Africa Secondary schools’ Games.

The proposal by TCA to host the games has come at a time when the government of Uganda through the Ministry of Education and Sports has allocated sh1.5b for the creation of a swimming pool to the school.

“As a school, we have done our part of handing over the bidding proposal to the Uganda Secondary School Sports Association. it’s now upon them to give us hosting rights,” said Julius Opaaso, the headteacher.

According to Opasso, Teso College Aloet's dream of hosting the FEASSSA games started in 2019 when the school hosted the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games 2.

Opaaso said the construction of the swimming facility, measuring 20 meters wide and 25 meters long, has been constructed by UPDF Engineering Brigade.

John Robert Osuu, the chairperson of Teso Region Secondary Schools’ Sports Association thanked the government of Uganda for allocating Teso College Aloet funds that have facilitated the construction of a swimming pool.

“I don’t see any reason why Teso should not have the privilege of hosting East Africa games, because we have all the facilities in place, accommodation, and security which are the key factors,” said Osuu

Osuu appeals for support from the Soroti district local government and all the local governments of the ten districts in the Teso region and the Ministry of Education and Sports to come in and forward assistance towards the exercise, which he said will not only be for the school alone, but for the whole region and the country at large.

Hariet Apolot 3rd Vice President of Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) said Teso College Aloet being an old government-aided school in the country, has all the potential of accommodating the FEASSA games.

However, Simon Peter Edoru Ekuu promised to table the matter in the district council adding that this is not only a good achievement for the district, but also for Teso as a whole.

Edoru revealed that Teso College Aloet is large enough to accommodate all sporting disciplines
