Table tennis: Uganda wins silver at Africa Club Championships

Ugandan table tennis men have won their first-ever medal at the Africa Club Championships in Nairobi.

It was the spirited effort of Kibuli SS team players that made Uganda excel at Moi Stadium at Kasarani.

In the finals on Wednesday, Kibuli SS players lost to high-rated Petro Jet of Egypt 3-0 to settle for silverware at the tournament that attracted seven men and six women clubs.

Kibuli SS had Sam Mbabazi, Joseph Ssebatindira, and Phillip Napokoli who played in the final.

The others were Joshua Magaya and Enock Balyewuunya.

Ugandan women in Nakasero TT Club also put in a spirited effort to win a bronze medal after beating the Rwandan side, Vision TT Club 3-0 in the playoffs.

In the semifinal, Nakasero lost to Commercial Bank of Ethiopia 3-0.

The Egyptian side Petro Jet team also won in the women's side.

Nakasero fielded the Commonwealth Games representatives, Jemimah Nakawala and Parvin Judith Nangonzi together with Shanita Namala and Patience Anyango.
