Soroti names team for national primary schools' games in Mbarara

Soroti city will be represented by 80 athletes at this year’s edition of the Uganda Primary Schools’ Games Associations UPSSGA ball games and special Needs Learners SNE championship in Mbarara

A ten-day activity hosted at Mbarara Junior school is slated for August 27th to September 5, 2023

The selected boys and girls will take part in handball and football excelled during Soroti city primary schools’ championship held on Tuesday at Soroti sports ground.

According Moses Oyara, the chairperson Soroti city Co-curricular activities say the number selected to represent the city in handball and football has increased because the competition was high and many passed the qualification standards.

“We are looking at taking 80 boys and girls under the category of U-14 boys and U-16 girls in handball and U-12 boys and U-14 girls for football. It is from this background that I will express optimism that our performance at the national level this year will be better,” said Oyara,

In the UPSSGA games last year in Masaka city, Soroti city was represented with 30 athletes which Wakiso emerged as the overall best district in the championship hosted at St Paul Kitovu P/s in Masaka city.

The Uganda primary schools’ sports games association has registered for sporting disciplines of Netball, handball, volleyball and football for the normal category while children with special learning needs will be showcasing talents in showdown, goal ball for the visually impaired learners, those with hearing impaired learners with compete in volleyball, football, Netball, and those that are Physically impaired will compete in Boccia and sitting volleyball
