SC Villa v Vipers

SC Villa have not lost any of their last two games at home against Vipers and head into Tuesday's Uganda Premier League match on the back of six wins in a row.

The two sides face off today in a mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash at Wankulukuku Stadium which may decide the Uganda Premier League title.

SC Villa comes into this game after settling for a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Busoga United in their previous game, while Vipers make the trip to Wankulukuku on the back of a 2-1 victory over another relegation candidate UPDF at St Mary's Stadium in Kitende.

Only one point separates third (41) and fourth (40) placed Vipers and SC Villa despite playing to a 1-1 draw in the first-round encounter at St Mary's Stadium. Though both sides have one game in hand, they are not far away from table leaders Kitara (44 points) and second-placed BUL (43).

SC Villa's undoing in their previous games has been the failure to take away the chances, and coach Dusan Stonjanovic believes they have tried to address this.

"We play very well but we are not clinical enough. But we have tried to address this. To win games, we have to score goals. We are facing a good side in Vipers, but we want to utilise the home advantage. We also want to defend very well since Vipers have good players up front," noted coach Stonjanovic.

Vipers will look to make it three wins in a row. Previously, they beat UPDF and URA 2-0 respectively.

The Venoms has also beefed up their technical team with Fred Muhumuza.

Muhumuza was let go by URA following the expiration of his contract with current URA FC coach David Obua declaring him surplus to requirements.

The soft-spoken tactician's appointment follows the sacking of head coach Livingstone Mbabazi.

However, interim head coach Richard Wasswa who has been in charge of the previous games has promised to see a better side.

"This is a big game we have to handle with care. We know what SC Villa can do if we are not prepared. But we come into the game having had a good performance in the last games," noted Wasswa.

SC Villa will look to Patrick Kakande, Abbas Kyeyune, and Charles Lwanga, among others for inspiration, while Vipers will rely on Allan Okello, Bright Anukani, and AbdulKarim Watambala among others.
