The Rugby Africa Cup final day comes with quite the responsibility for the teams that will be competing at Namboole.

Hosts Uganda will be focusing on finishing fifth as they take on Senegal while Algeria and Zimbabwe will contest for the championship.

It has been eight gruelling days for all the teams but at the end of the day, Zimbabwe and Algeria will get a chance to contest for the main cup. Uganda has not necessarily hit on all cylinders but will have to produce a big result against Senegal to conclude the championship in style.

Uganda defeated Burkina Faso on Wednesday but even though that performance was laboured, the only positive they got out of it was the victory.

“We won the game but the performance wasn’t to our best. To be honest, there is no easy team in the tournament, when you look at the ‘small’ teams in the tournament; they have kept us on our toes. We don’t overlook that they have some pros playing in the French leagues and we are not taking them for granted just like Burkina Faso that has some guys from the USA and France,” explained Rugby Cranes Coach Leonard Lubambula.

Senegal is growing quite the reputation. Even though they lost to Kenya on day one, they had some moments of brilliance which Uganda has to be wary of.

Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso will fight for the right to stay in the Rugby Africa tier 1A. The loser will be relegated while the winner will stay in the competition.

Kenya will face Namibia in the battle for third place. The winner of the encounter will receive third place and avoid the winner of the fifth place play-off since that will determine who Uganda face in the championship next year.

All the matches that will be played at Namboole have consequences that are more drastic than others.
