Uganda Rugby Cranes coach Leonard Lubambula has confirmed centre Jones Kamiza and flanker Moses Zziwa will not play against Burkina Faso after the two sustained injuries in the match against Zimbabwe.

Kamiza is nursing a neck injury, while Zziwa has a back injury.

“We don’t want to expose him to injuries. He (Kamiza) is still a young man, and Zziwa Moses sustained a back injury and is recovering steadily. You may see both of them in the third game on Sunday but for now, they will rest for this game,” stated Lubambula.

The team will see changes with the two out of contention, which means Joseph Aredo will come in at center while Mark Omoding will replace Zziwa.

Eliphaz Emong who was a big miss against Zimbabwe will have an opportunity against Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso like Zimbabwe has extremely physical players who could pause a challenge to Uganda who have continued with the 6-2 split once again.

“We want to play slightly wider of the breakdowns and against Zimbabwe we were so close and it hurt us. We are playing a bigger team so we are playing a little bit wider from the breakdowns,” explained Lubambula.

Uganda will try to ensure that they are not relegated from tier 1A which would rule them out of the 2027 Rugby World Cup Qualification Cycle.
