Odongo spoilt for choice as Pirates sign Kato in 7s Series boost

Stanbic Black Pirates head coach Marvin Odongo will be spoilt for choice when the national 7s series kicks off from July 22–26 with the Stone City 7s at RuckYard Sports Club.
This follows the Pirates' signing of scrum-half Nicholas Kato from Platinum Heathens Rugby Club.
The acquisition has bolstered the Pirates' scrum-half position, which now boasts three top players, Kato, Steven Alul, and Conrad Wanyama.
The transfer was confirmed in the list released by the Uganda Rugby Union on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
According to the list, Pirates also lost David Daren Yiga to Makerere Impis, while Victoria Sharks received Paul Mutsami from Menengai Oilers.
KCB KOBs signed Blair Kaboyo from the Beijing Aardvarks. However, Impis emerged as the biggest movers in the transfer window, securing Prince Bwire from Walukuba, Daniel Talemwa from Mbarara Titans, and Arnold Musaazi from Plascon Mongers.
Entebbe-based side Mongers signed Shafik Ngobi from Entebbe Jaguars.
