Long-serving Nyamityobora FC midfielder and team captain Clinton Kamugisha has left the club and joined Kitara FC.

The promising attacking midfielder who has been the Mbarara-based Big League side’s captain for three seasons has as well been the longest-serving son of the club, following a dozen of departures by several players in the last two seasons.

Kamugisha won the golden boot after finishing top scorer of the second tier 2020/2021 league season with 13 goals under promotion master Richard Makumbi, which aided his side to a promotional play-offs place but failed the test after losing to Gadaffi 4-0 in the semifinal.

He now reunites with his mentor coach Makumbi at Masindi-based Kitara FC for only up to the end of this season.

“I have done all for my parent club, and I don’t regret having decided because I asked them (Nyamityobora), and they allowed me in utmost good faith. I am ready to face the challenge of especially helping the club back to the top flight,” Kamugisha said.

Kamugisha leaves during financial and administrative problems at the clubs, which have escalated after the resignation of club president and patron Ben Misagga and Ali Ssekatawa recently. Anitah Nayebare, another administrator that has been there for the team is said to have stepped down.

Fred Niwagira Mwine has since taken over the club management as president, but his tenure has seen the club lose four consecutive games including a 9-2 loss to Kyetume in the league and recently a 4-0 dubbing by regional side Booma FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup game.

With the FUFA Big League second-round fixtures out, Kamugisha’s first assignment for his 7th placed Kitara, will be against table leaders Blacks Power away in Lira on February 10.
