New signings back Entebbe UPPC to compete for trophies

Entebbe UPPC's new signings have backed the club to compete for trophies next season, saying they have quickly settled into coach Abdallah Mubiru's squad.
Right-back Grant Matsiko said he has been warmly welcomed by his new teammates and believes the club has what it takes to succeed.
"It has been a very good experience. The players have welcomed me and helped me settle into the team. My style of play fits the coach's system and, because this is a young club that is growing, I think we need to grow together and help the team achieve its ambitions," Matsiko said.
He added that the quality in the squad gives the club a chance to challenge for honours.
"My teammates are very good players. We just need to be consistent to help the team win trophies."
Matsiko joined the Printers after leaving Vipers SC, where he struggled for regular playing time following his move from Wakiso Giants in 2023. The Kabale-born defender also previously featured for Kigezi HomeBoyz.
Midfielder Sharif Ssengendo, another new arrival, said he has also settled in well and is looking forward to making an impact.
"I have played with some of my teammates before. The environment is good and both the players and coaches have welcomed me well. My ambition is to play regularly, earn a call-up to the national team, score more goals and provide more assists," Ssengendo said.
Although he stopped short of making bold predictions for the season, the midfielder said the players are working hard to compete for silverware. "I cannot predict anything now, but as a team we are working very hard so that we can win a trophy, and I believe we are capable of doing that."
Ssengendo reunited with coach Mubiru after joining Entebbe UPPC from KCCA. The midfielder became a free agent after mutually agreeing to end his contract with KCCA despite having one year remaining.
Entebbe UPPC have also strengthened their squad with the signing of experienced midfielder Ibrahim Mugulusi following his departure from BUL FC, while winger Swadik Moro has joined from Buhimba United Saints to boost the attack. The club has also appointed Richard Kansole as goalkeeping coach to replace Swaibu Ssebagala, who left to join URA FC. Kansole previously worked with Mubiru at Police FC.
Entebbe UPPC finished sixth in the Uganda Premier League last season with 51 points and are aiming to build on that performance in the coming campaign.
