NEC FC unveiled Mustafa Kizza as their newest signing on Wednesday, securing the talented left-back on a two-year deal.

The announcement came just ahead of a trial match against South Sudan’s Al Merriekh Bentiu, played at the YES Centre in Nsambya.

Kizza, known for his stints with KCCA FC, Express FC, and CF Montreal in Major League Soccer, was handed an immediate debut. In a goalless draw, he delivered a confident performance, marked by his trademark dangerous crosses and sound defensive presence. Despite good opportunities on both ends, it was the visitors who slightly edged the contest in overall fluency.

The match also served as a showcase for several other new faces in the NEC lineup. Titus Ssematimba, recently signed from Kitara FC, formed a midfield partnership with Allan Mugalu, while Daniel Shabena, arriving from Express FC, added further depth. Emerging talents Charles Waibi and Joseph Sseremba, signed from Kigezi Home Boyz, were introduced after the break and demonstrated lively touches and technical promise. Hudson Mbalire, also a second-half substitute, brought a fresh attacking dimension compared to first-half striker Emmanuel Ajo.

This wave of reinforcements arrives as NEC FC gears up for its biggest challenge yet—representing Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup. Their participation follows a stellar domestic campaign last season, finishing runners-up in both the league and Uganda Cup, each clinched by Vipers SC.
