Despite bowing out of continental competition, NEC FC has reason to celebrate after securing a sh200m partnership with OPPEIN, an international homes and living furniture company based in Uganda.
The partnership, announced on Monday, October 6, at OPPEIN’s head office in Lugogo along Jinja Road, was witnessed by several high-ranking army officers, led by Lt. Gen. James Mugira, the General Manager of the National Enterprises Corporation (NEC), who served as chief guest.

Lt. Gen. Mugira officially unveiled the new NEC FC kit, which now bears OPPEIN as the front-chest main sponsor for an unspecified period, according to Eng. Buhanda and OPPEIN Managing Director Sherry Shi, also known as Namutebi.
He commended OPPEIN and CHINT for partnering with NEC in what he described as a mutually beneficial relationship, and praised the club’s management and players for their impressive performance in both domestic and continental competitions.
“Clubs worldwide depend on sponsors who help build strong teams. This is a win–win situation as we advertise your products. Your outstanding performances at regional, national, and international levels have attracted such big sponsors. We are proud to be a winning club, and we won’t let you down,” Lt. Gen. Mugira said.

He called for continued collaboration between NEC and its new partners, and lauded head coach Hussein Mbalangu and his players for their good form.
Lt. Gen. Mugira further thanked OPPEIN for their significant investment in Uganda and encouraged them to invite more investors to the country.
“I have toured your operations and thank you for supporting the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative. We look forward to seeing more products made locally, especially as the Kilembe Copper Mines are being revamped, which will allow you to source raw materials from within Uganda,” he noted.
During the event, NEC FC players Marvin Kavuma (captain), Mustafa Kizza, and Paul Mucureezi showcased the new home, away, and training kits.
OPPEIN Managing Director Sherry Shi thanked NEC for the partnership and pledged to strengthen the relationship further.
Coach Hussein Mbalangu urged fans to support the team by purchasing official NEC jerseys, which will now be sold exclusively at the OPPEIN showroom.
