Preparations at the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Associations (USSSA) Elite Schools tournament hosts Mbarara High School have reached the final bend ahead of the event that starts Thursday at the Mbarara City-based school.
By Tuesday morning, all playing grounds had been prepared both at the hosting school grounds and the neighbouring Kakyeka as well as the accommodation areas.
According to Mbarara High School headteacher Ham Ahimbisibwe, all is set for the event to roll on successfully.

“We have put everything in place as needed by USSSA and we are very sure we shall have a successful event. All we urge our visitors is to come feeling at home at Mbarara High School. We have secured the support of every stakeholder in Mbarara City including security and we are looking forward to having the event roll on,” Ahimbisibwe said.
Mbarara High School will solely host the participants using the neigbhouring Ruharo hill institutions for accommodation.
The event that will see the best of the USSSA 2022 championships face off in football, basketball, basketball 3x3, netball, volleyball, and handball, starts on Thursday which competition proper after the arrival of the teams Wednesday.

This will be the fourth edition of the championship aimed at fine-tuning school teams for the USSSA competitions and the first time it is held outside Kampala.
In last year’s edition hosted by St Mary’s Kitende, the hosts won a lion’s share of accolades having collected netball, boys’ football, and girls’ basketball accolades while Standard High Zzana and Katikamu SDA emerged boys’ and girls’ volleyball champions respectively with Bethel Covenant winning the boys basketball while Kawempe Moslem emerged girls, football winners.
