Ponsiano Lwakataka has dramatically boosted his chances of clinching the National Rally Championship (NRC) title following a commanding victory at the Uganda Motor Club (UMC) Fort Portal Tourism City Rally.

The two-day spectacle, staged across the scenic districts of Kyenjojo, Fort Portal, and Kabarole, reshaped the championship landscape and intensified the title race.

Heading into the fifth round of the season, Lwakataka trailed reigning leader Ronald Ssebuguzi by 66 points—Ssebuguzi sat at 241, while Lwakataka had 175. But after his resounding win, Lwakataka now stands at 235 points, narrowing the gap to just six and setting up a thrilling showdown in the final two rounds.
