Twenty-six rally cars successfully passed scrutineering on the morning of Thursday, October 9, 2025, ahead of the highly anticipated CMC Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally in Gulu.
Among the confirmed competitors are top National Rally Championship (NRC) contenders Ronald Sebuguzi, Hassan Alwi Jr, Duncan Mubiru, Ponsiano Lwakataka, and Musa Ssegaabwe.
The crews will kick off the action on Friday morning with two competitive stages before heading to the Super Special Stage at Pece Stadium.

Scrutineering was conducted by Chief Technical Delegate Moses Sseguya, and the official flag-off was presided over by the Mayor of Gulu City Municipality.
In a surprise move, Hassan Alwi Jr who is preparing for the 2025 UMOSPOC Kabalega Rally in Hoima, made a late entry into the Gulu Rally on Thursday morning. The two-time Kabalega Rally champion will use the event as a warm-up for the final NRC round scheduled for November 21–23 in Hoima.
Representing the International University of East Africa (IUEA), Alwi made an unexpected appearance at the Shell fuel station scrutineering venue, ready to compete in the penultimate NRC event organized by Central Motor Club (CMC).

“Yes, we took a late decision and we are here to compete,” Alwi told Vision Sport.

His entry adds pressure to the NRC title race, where Ronald Sebuguzi leads with 241 points, followed closely by Ponsiano Lwakataka (235 points) and Musa Ssegaabwe (207.5 points).
Driving a Subaru Proto and navigated by Musa Nsubuga, Alwi is a formidable competitor whose presence signals a clear intent to challenge for victory.
Also eyeing the top spot in Gulu are Godfrey Aine Sodo in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 and Duncan Mubiru “Kikankane” in a Ford Fiesta Proto.
