Veteran rally driver Ronald Sebuguzi capped off a memorable 2025 season with a thanksgiving celebration to express gratitude to God for what he described as one of the most successful years of his career.
The event followed his triumph in the National Rally Championship (NRC), a title that left him visibly overjoyed.
“I am so happy with this year because we have all achieved as a family,” Sebuguzi said. “My son dominated his class in motocross, my daughter also excelled in motocross, and here I am beating the big guys in motorsport. How can I not celebrate and thank God?”
Sebuguzi made history by becoming the first driver to win the NRC championship without a single event victory. His consistency across the season saw him finish ahead of closest rival Musa Ssegaabwe, who placed second, and Ponsiano Lwakataka, who settled for third.
Earlier in the year, the rally ace had hinted at retirement after struggling to complete several events, citing inconsistent results and concerns about age. However, the championship win has prompted a rethink.
“I had thought of retiring if I didn’t win this championship with this car, but now that it’s in my hands, I’m still in,” he added.
The 2025 crown marked Sebuguzi’s fourth NRC title, cementing his place among Uganda’s rally legends alongside Sam Sali, Charlie Lubaga, and Jas Mangat. His next challenge will be in Busiika, where he has vowed to reclaim and defend the Champion Sprint title he last won in 2024.
