Bodybuilder Godfrey Lubega is confident of winning the 2021 Mr. Kampala Bodybuilding title.

Being the last bodybuilder to clinch the championship in 2019 before Covid-19 hit the country prompting a lockdown on all activities, Lubega looks at himself as the perfect candidate to win the championship that will be used to revive the sport that has struggled to restart.

This year's edition is scheduled for May 1st at QUIBZ gym opposite Bahai temple and the bodybuilders will be contesting in various categories such as bantamweight, lightweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight.

The winners will walk away with medals, a trophies plus cash prizes.

However, bodybuilders have been urged to build their bodies naturally instead of using steroids.

Joseph Nkoyooyo, the general secretary of Gander Bodybuilding and Fitness Association assured the general public to expect a great show.

“We are to showcase a special talent who is preparing to go and engage in the Paralympics but through Mr. Kampala championship,” Nkoyooyo said.

“We are the ambassadors of fitness in Uganda so we need to showcase wonderful talents to the world. You know after a sudden fall, a comeback is not that easy but we are to use Mr. Kampala bodybuilding championship to benchmark the proper preparations for Mr. Uganda bodybuilding championship," he added.

A huge number of bodybuilders are expected to turn up for the championship.
