University of Kisubi’s (UniK)Noeline Babirye is determined to win the individual honours of the Corporate Woodball Circuits after she won the third outing of the competition on Sunday.

Babirye returned 97 strokes to beat Ministry of Public Service’s Phiona Namata and ZOE’s Aidah Namubiru who chalked 99 and 103 strokes respectively.

This was Babirye’s second gold, having also won from the previous outing on top of a second-place finish from the first.

“This win means a lot because as captain a lot is expected of me, and our performance also determines the size of sponsorship we get for such outings which is sort of a motivation,” Babirye said.

“So this has energized us and in particular me who is still leading the individual standings,” Babirye stated.

Quite elated was Sylvester Kalunga another UniK member who also grabbed his first individual accolade ahead of Kisubi’s David Mutebi and UNEB’s Eric Enabu.

“I’m very happy to have won my first gold on home ground and this motivates me to aim for more both in the singles and doubles by the end of the year,” Kalunga stated.

Ndejje Corporate Woodball Club’s (NCWC) Michael Makoha who also notched gold in the seniors’ category is also hoping to build on Sunday’s win to topple his rival David Mutebi (Kisubi) who is leading the standings.

“I want to win the MVP award and also help the team to the overall trophy,” Makoha said.

Kisubi Corporate Woodball Club topped Sunday’s outing with 191 strokes, ahead of NCWC and UniK who managed 196 and 201 strokes in the men’s category while the Ministry of Public Service took the women’s with 222 strokes one and 12 strokes better than UNEB and UniK respectively.

The New Vison’s pair of Charles Lubwama and Joan Najjuma managed a bronze in the mixed doubles.
