A total of 65 player transfers has been completed and approved for the 2026/27 volleyball season, according to the latest Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) transfer list released on Friday.

KCCA have been one of the busiest clubs, signing seven players. Marxenso Muhumuza, Hassan Tendo, John Ogire, Egide Mwizerwa and George Kelly have joined the men’s team, while Hadijah Otin and Asha Diana Ulea have joined the women’s side.

Sky have signed six players including Frank Genesis Kyazze, Gilbert Kimbowa, Aziizi Busingye, Gatluak Luok Mathiang, Ismail Otim and Trevor Bihembo Igumira.

Nemostars have signed six players, adding Edmond Kimera, Joel Otim, Owen Abamukama and Herbert Aruho to the men’s team, while Gladys Atimango has joined from Seroma Doves and Hilton Faith Amanyire from VVC.

UCU have made four signings, bringing in Andrew Vicent Mugisha from Amus, David Kigozi from KAVC, Silver Owinjo from Elyon and Allan Alinda from Sport-S.

KAVC have made eight signings meanwhile St. Charles Ntinda have signed four players

VVC have signed two players, while Seroma Doves have also signed two players.

Cobap have made two signings, John Jude Gumisiriza from Thunders and Morris Hernest Kasule from Makerere Titans.

Nkumba University have signed five players, including Joseline Akurut from UCU, Luor Gatmai Gatkuoth from Beeline, Ronald Gumisiriza from Sky, Micheal Royal Wafula from UCU VC Mbale and Elizabeth Achol Athuai Atak from Mbarara University.

Mutungo has made three signings. Kampala University have signed two players, while Mulago have also made two signings. Police have made three signings, bringing in Benjamin Mukisa from Sky, Julius Wasswa from KCCA and Smith Rukundo from KAVC.

The transfer activity follows tighter UVF rules introduced after player eligibility and transfer disputes disrupted the end of last season. In August, UVF gave clubs until September 5 to clear outstanding payments and paperwork.

An earlier UVF update listed 32 completed and 36 pending transfers, totalling 68, compared with the latest figure of 65 completed transfers.

The federation had placed Federicko Mujinya, Barnabas Tugume and Owen Abamukama under eligibility review.

Nemostars, however, will start the new season without receiver-attacker Federicko Mujinya, who is serving a one-season suspension for a transfer breach.

Mujinya played for Bishop Stuart University in the 2024/25 season before joining Nemostars in 2025/26. UVF ruled that he moved without completing the required transfer process. His suspension runs until May 14, 2027.

The case was part of a dispute that contributed to the cancellation of last season’s men’s Serie A finals. Elyon challenged the eligibility of Mujinya and teammate Salva Marial. Marial was later cleared, but Mujinya’s case remained unresolved and the final was not played.

Nemostars and St. Charles Lwanga Ntinda were also disqualified from last season’s National Volleyball League playoffs for fielding players deemed ineligible. The men’s finals were later stopped after the National Council of Sports intervened over player eligibility and transfer management.

Under the new rules, a player with an incomplete transfer cannot play until the process is completed. The 2026 UVF Annual Congress also resolved that every transferred player must obtain a valid Transfer Certificate from the federation secretariat before featuring in a UVF-sanctioned competition.

The new season will begin this month.
