The Netball Super League returns to action on Saturday with seven matches on the card at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Defending champions KCCA take on former champions NIC in a highly anticipated clash of the day.

The two sides are set to renew their rivalry, with both teams eager to make a strong statement after the league break, which was occasioned by Uganda's participation in the Africa Netball Cup in Nairobi, Kenya.

NIC, coached by Rashid Mubiru, will be hoping to use the encounter as a springboard in their quest for the league title. However, they face a KCCA side determined to retain the trophy they won last season.

KCCA head coach Fred Mugerwa says his team is prepared for the challenge despite the disruption caused by the change in the fixture.

"We shall just go there and play. We had training, though some of my players who were in Kenya had not shown up. We are training and ready to reclaim our title. Though I am not happy with the change of fixture because this match was supposed to be played sometime back and it was changed. Nevertheless, we are good to go," Mugerwa said.

The clash is expected to provide an early indication of how both sides have responded to the league break, with players returning from international duty and looking to translate their experience into club competition.

Netball Uganda vice president in charge of technical matters, Richard Muhumuza, said the break was necessary to allow players to focus on the Africa Netball Cup, where Uganda emerged as champions.

Muhumuza believes the rest will have benefited the players and expects an energetic return to league action.

"I believe people have prepared enough for a long time and we expect good games. We decided to have a break due to the Africa Netball Cup in Kenya. Now the games return, and we expect to see a lot of energy and vibe," Muhumuza said.
