The famous Katogo Golf Series comes to a climax on Saturday with over 150 golfers in action in the last quarter event at Entebbe Club.

The season finale comes a few weeks after a group of Ugandan golfers traveled to Kenya to participate in the first-ever cross-border I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series tournament at Limuru Country Club.

The one-day debut tournament, dubbed the ‘Migingo Skirmishes,’ saw over 200 golfers compete on the Limuru greens and later enjoy a Katogo-style 19th hole prize-giving ceremony. The tournament attracted over 60 Ugandan golfers, mainly Katogo members, with Kenya taking the lion’s share of the podium prizes.

The stage for the Entebbe finale was set by an online Daily Trivia quiz revolving around the tournament. Participants who answered the most questions correctly will receive a prize at the prize-giving ceremony on Saturday.

Katogo Captain Elly Mukasa, aka Sober, revealed that apart from trivia winners, there will be many other exciting prizes at the 19th hole. “Our partners, Victoria Motors, have staked a Mitsubishi Xpander as a hole-in-one prize on that day. If you hit an ace on the hole we will reveal later, the 7-seater ride is yours for keeps. This is one of the most luxurious hole-in-one prizes ever,” Mukasa said.

The I&M Bank Katogo season finale will be played under the ‘Double Bogey Danger’ format. In this intriguing format, players start with their full set of clubs, but whenever a player scores a double bogey or worse, they must decommission a club. The player continues to decommission one club for every double bogey or worse until they score a par. A player can bring back one club into play for every par or birdie scored.

Title sponsors I&M Bank Uganda are pleased to see the end of a successful series, which has become one of the most anticipated events in the local golf calendar. “We are very excited to have had a successful series throughout the 2024 season, and we look forward to crowning the year in style. I know it’s not easy to maintain momentum when something isn’t a one-off, but I’m glad that, as I&M Bank, we’ve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners to ensure a successful outing each quarter,” said Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at I&M Bank Uganda.

Saturday’s winners will be awarded prizes ranging from air tickets and golf apparel to vouchers and trophies. The 19th hole experience promises to be memorable, with comedian Patrick Idringi, aka Salvado, as the host, and the legendary Afrigo Band headlining the evening’s entertainment.

The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is sponsored by Victoria Motors, Johnnie Walker, GA Insurance, Fenon Events, and Goldman Furniture.
