Uganda Boxing Champions League (UBCL) poster boy Ukasha Matovu has vowed to make light work of rival Isaac Kasasa upon his return to the ring this Saturday, June 20, at the MTN Arena, Lugogo.

The 2023 UBCL Season 3 welterweight champion, confident of registering an emphatic knockout of Kasasa, makes his long-awaited return in Season 5 after a one-year sabbatical.

Alias "UkashaLee," the COBAP Boxing Club knockout specialist and captain of the national boxing team (The Bombers), headlines a star-studded Week 4 UBCL card that also features undercard thrillers for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games-bound Bombers squad.

Ukasha, who has been in intense training at COBAP BC’s gym in Lubya, Lubaga Division, expressed confidence ahead of his return.

“I’m back to reclaim my throne. I have already conquered the light welterweight and welterweight divisions. Now is the right time to sweep and dominate the light middleweight division,” Ukasha told Vision Sport.

Ukasha’s return to the ring lights up Season 5 of the UBCL, currently dominated by welterweight Paul ‘Mad Boxer’ Rascara, light middleweight Nerrick ‘Bulabe’ Tumusiime, lightweight Ibrahim Kemis, and heavyweight Azizi Ringo, grandson of former Ugandan president Idi Amin Dada.

He was part of a galactico UBCL inaugural season that featured hard punchers such as lightweight Joshua Tukamuheebwa, middleweight Yusuf Nkobeza, light middleweight Muzamir ‘Mr. Take Over’ Ssemuddu, Isaac Zebra Ssenyange Jr., and Owen ‘Matrix’ Kibira, among others.

His coach, Lawrence Kalyango, who is also part of The Bombers’ coaching staff is optimistic that Ukasha is ready to make an immediate impact.

“Everyone knows the excitement and energy Ukasha brings to the league. I’m delighted to see him back. We have been in camp for the last four months, and I can confidently say he is ready to dominate this season.”

The same event will also feature undercard thrillers involving the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth-bound Bombers team.

Heavyweight Azizi Ringo takes on Patrick Ssenyonjo, while lightweight Ibrahim Kemis is set to battle Shafic Babiro. UPDF and She Bombers captain, welterweight Emily Nakalema, is ready to tussle it out with Brawn BC’s electric Leillah Nalule.
