FEAUS honours Lugujjo and Kayongo for supporting sports

Ndejje University Vice-Chancellor Professor Eriab Lugujjo and the university financial manager Paul Kayongo have been recognized by FEAUS for their unwavering support towards the Federation of East Africa University Sports (FEAUS) games that ended at Ndejje University-Main Campus in Luwero on Wednesday.

Lugujjo was in particular recognised for his support of sports that has seen Ndejje University excel in sports performance; his dedicated commitment to developing world-class sports infrastructure in the region and his ever-willing spirit to champion the cause of sports in the region and Uganda in particular.

The federation in the same breath recognized Kayongo for his unique contribution towards the growth of sports in the East African region and his resilience in fundraising for the development of sports infrastructure and his dedicated and longtime service in the region.

The engineers; Patrick Kigongo, Nagu Nageswara, and Jim Mugisha for their dedication to the construction of the infrastructure for the 12th edition of the games.

The state Sports minister Peter Ogwang who represented the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni presented the awards to the recipients.

Lugujjo said planning and executing an event like the FEAUS games requires a spectrum of inspired, motivated, cooperative, passionate, and goal-oriented individuals with the common goal at one focus point of their success.

“It is for this reason therefore that I salute everyone for the success of these games,” Lugujjo said.

He thanked all those who participated in the games amidst the uncertainties of pandemics. He said the games will be remembered as a landmark for Ndejje University for having hosted games of such magnitude and for the growth of the woodball sport that has spread across the region.

“on introspection, I have realised that our East Africa region is swimming in a sea of potential that if well enhanced and promoted can yield more world-class athletes,” Lugujjo stated.
