Express FC assistant coach Augustine Nsumba has attributed their draw with Soltilo Bright Stars away at Kavumba Recreation ground on Friday to a lapse in defence.

"We were unlucky because we had done everything. They equalised in the last five minutes. We switched off a bit as a team. We are looking forward to the next game and the guys are going to work on that specifically so that we get maximum points in the next game," stated Nsumba.

The Red Eagles came into the game on the back of two league defeats against KCCA (4-3) and Mbarara City (3-1).

They had also faced financial challenges which led them to miss training sessions.

Isaac Wagoina who scored his eighth goal gave Express a lead after scoring off a rebound after a missed penalty in the 47 minute. The hosts levelled the score through Ashraf Mulindi in the 83rd minute.

"We have got the point that God gave us. We promise we are going back to rectify our mistakes and win our next games," Express right back Andrew Kaggwa promised.

The result saw Express move to 24 points in the eighth position while Bright Stars are now at 21 points in the tenth place. BUL tops the standings with 37 points.

Bright Stars coach Joseph Mutyaba feels they didn't utilize their chances.

"We put many chances to waste. But a point against Express is okay and we shall build on that to improve," noted Mutyaba.

Elsewhere, Edward Namaasa's 13th-minute goal saw Mbarara City beat Busoga United 1-0 at Kakyeka Stadium.

The league will resume on Friday with Maroons hosting table leaders BUL at Luzira, while KCCA will entertain Kitara at MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo in the match to be played under floodlights.
