Uganda v Singapore

Hosts Uganda will be desperate for a winning start when they clash with Singapore on the opening day of the 2024 Cricket World Cup Challenge League B at Lugogo.

Uganda will be favourites against their Asian opponents but Riazat Shah’s men must handle the pressure of playing at home, something they have not always done well in the past.

Ugandan coach Abhay Sharma will be hoping his new-look side, short of four players who were part of the Cricket Cranes’ roster at the T20 World Cup, come up with the goods.

Raghav Dhawan and Shrideep Mangela will be crucial to Uganda’s success, after being called up to the squad for the first time. The pair are part of the remodelled top order, which also includes Robinson Obuya, that will go a long way in determining the fortunes of Uganda.

The League B tournament also includes Hong Kong, Bahrain, Italy, and Tanzania, all of whom will be in action tomorrow at Lugogo and Entebbe. The event is part of the qualification cycle for the 2027 World Cup and is the first of three rounds.
