Uganda won by two wickets
Cricket Cranes are focused on winning the ultimate prize at the ongoing African Games in Ghana after beating South Africa by two wickets to top the group with 100 percent record
Uganda were on the brink of losing their first game at the tournament had it not been for Simon Ssesazi’s game-winning six.
Roger Mukasa made 41 runs off 54 balls which made him a standout player for the Cricket Cranes, while Brian Masaba made 14 runs off 8 balls.
South Africa's George Van Heerden made 44 runs off 45 balls and Aphiwe Yako posted 18 runs off 21 balls making him the side’s top performer.
This was Uganda’s third consecutive win at the Achimota Cricket Oval.
Ssesazi believes giving his best and making the game-winner was a big milestone for him and the team as they prepare for the semi-finals.
“We played our hearts out with one thing at the bottom of our mind which was winning the game and sending a message to our next opponents that we are here for the ultimate prize,” Ssesazi said.
Uganda finished the group stages as table leaders with Kenya in second, South Africa in third, and Ghana at the bottom of the log.
Cricket Cranes will face the second team in Group B.
