The Ntare School alumni will be eager to replicate last year’s performance that saw them grab their first ‘Clash of Titans’ Golf Tournament played at Entebbe Club last year.
But unlike last year’s event that was played over one leg, this year’s action will be played over two legs with the first this Saturday at the Uganda Golf Club following the launch of the event at the same venue on Monday.
Ntare School won with 378 points beating St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK)and Namilyango College who finished with 360 and 315 points respectively in the post-primary schools’ alumni championship which started three years ago.

Addressing the press during the launch of the Hima Cement-sponsored event, Namilyango College’s Raymond Ekwamu said each school will be represented by OBs and Ogs who will score points from each round, with the best ten scores contributing to each team’s overall scores over the two legs including the second in Entebbe.
The championship has continued to attract numbers since the first edition. Last year’s event had 21 schools up from 15 while this year’s edition is expected to attract 30 schools.
Paul Ndyaguma the captain of Ntare School believes they can still defend their title as they have been growing in strength each year.

“We failed to raise a team in the first edition and didn’t score, the second edition we were beaten by a point so as ‘Lions’ that didn’t go well for us so we came back for the third edition prepared and we emerged champions,”
Lady golfers who went through Bweranyangi Girls SS topped the girl’s competition with 100 points and will fight it out again with those from Mary Hill and Namagunga who finished with 95 and 94 points respectively.
The secondary and high schools expected include Ntare School, SMACK, Budo, Namilyango, Kisubi, Mvra SS, Kigezi High, Namugongo, Nabumali, Mwiri, Jinja College, Namasagali, Nyakasura, Ombachi, Makerere College and Ndejje SS.
