Ceylon Lions moved to the front of the pack after a 109-run win over the Wanderers at Lugogo put them in pole position with three games to play in the UCA National 50 Overs Premiership.

The Kutchi Tigers may have been replaced as the table leaders, but they are level on points with the Lions. This title fight is headed for the death.

Against the Wanderers, Ceylon never broke a sweat, let alone fought for victory.

Opener Charles Musemeza gave Ceylon the springboard for their triumph with a quickfire ton, scoring 63 off 75, as they raced to 249/7 in 50 overs. Hamu Kayondo’s match-best 64 later in the innings, coupled with notable contributions from Deus Muhumuza (29), Colline Abonga (24), Ronald Omara (21), and Ankit Patel (13) peppered the scoreboard to leave the Wanderers facing a monumental task.

They would not be equal to it.

Perry Wazombe with 32, Arthur Magwa with 26, and Abu Seguya with 22 were Wanderers' leading scorers, but Brighton Muganzi claimed 3/39 in eight overs for the Lions and Muhumuza and Darshil Dalwadi picked a pair each to secure Ceylon’s victory.

Wanderers were all out for 140 in 33.4 overs.
