Dhansuk Sesani took 5/21 in five overs as the Kutchi Tigers opened up a four-point lead atop the UCA Men’s 50 over Premiership thanks to a 30-run win away to JACC on Sunday.
Jesani was rightly assessed the player of the match accolade after his heroics helped Kutchi defend their fairly chasable score. JACC were set a revised target of 164 in 22 overs due to the weather, with Kutchi having reached 128/6 in the same overs.
Avnish Vekariya had scored what would turn out a match-best 61 for Kutchi, while Nitin Jeshani added 26. JACC’s Henry Ssenyondo finished with 2/24.
In response, JACC had Kenneth Waiswa score 49 off 41, with five teammates also reaching double figures, but none of them above 16. That would prove insufficient for JACC to overhaul Kutchi, who moved six points above them.
The Tigers are also four points ahead of the Ceylon Lions, whose contest with Tornado Bees ended in a no result.
Lions and JACC have two games in hand, though, which will determine how much longer their interests in the title last.
